pretty tough going. The canoes weigh about 90 lbs & the packs which we usually had to go back and get if the portage was very long weighed about 80 lb. As I watched these city boys struggle & stagger I wondered how well you would have done. Have you learned to compete? To work hard & keep going even when it isn't easy? I hope so. We paddled thru many lakes which were connected by rivers or gradually tapering from one to the other. We paddled on lakes that were calm and smooth as glass and then again directly into white caps which would have overturned us had we not kept our bow headed right into them. Again when the boy in the bow slacked in his paddling I wondered how
