File: Student Services Student Activities Bulletin University of Iowa Office of Student Affairs Vol. III, No. 7 PLEASE POST April 25, 1969 ARTS AND THE ARTIST - 1969 The week of May 4-11 will mark a very important time for the University of Iowa. The Art Museum which has been under construction for the last three years will be inaugurated. To augment this exciting event, a week of fine arts activity--dubbed "Arts and the Artist-1969" will take place. A committee of students, faculty, and administration has been working diligently planning this festival. The first few days are largely student-planned with the latter part of the week--beginning with Thursday's programs--oriented more toward the numerous distinguished guests and patrons who will be on campus. But the whole week is for everyone and it should be tremendously exciting. The total Fine Arts Festival Committee is headed by Dr. Frank Seiberling, Director of the School of Art. Other members are representatives of the various schools and departments related to the fine arts. The Fine Art Festival student committee is comprised of representatives of major student organizations. Since this was the first year for such a venture it was deemed important to involve a cross-section of student interests. From this random group of students evolved an organization comprised of the following: Chairman: Jill Wiley Union Board Secretary: Pam Armstrong Student Senate Treasurer: Bob Neary Associated Residence Halls Hostess Committee Lora Kluever Union Board Marilyn Sealock Associated Residence Halls Cyndy Cline Cultural Affairs Committee Programming Committee Stan Zegel Cultural Affairs Committee Bill Crozier Union Board Ron Poole Central Party Committee Promotion Committee Jean Leonard Associated Residence Halls Tim Finn Student Senate (Continued on page 2)
