Monday - Jan. 5. The new phys. ed instructors who came aboard a few days ago inaugurated their program this morning. We now arise at 5:45 am, endure a half hour of calisthentics and must at 7:30 & 7:45 instead of 7:30 & 8:00 o'clock. Finished my sixth hour of instruction this morning, spent the entire period on landings. Believe that I mastered them pretty well. Landing is one of the most interesting phases of flying -- as well as highly important. Had my car hauled in again to find out why the battery goes down so quickly. Made the mistake of leaving my locker keys with the care keys. Couldn't get into my locker for shaving material, pajamas, etc. - bit of an inconvenience. Discovered that Walt Rissinieler, another fellow law student at Iowa is in the new class. Pretty good guy -- will be one of the few fellows that Bob should enjoy. His class seems to include an inordinate number of "sad apples".
